The goal of the public task “Youth Creating Dialogue: Theatre and Mentoring for Integration” is to develop social and civic competencies, a sense of agency and belonging among young people with migration experience living in Kraków.The project also aims to deepen residents’ understanding of their situation and encourage greater openness towards them.

Funding from Narodowy Instytut Wolności – Centrum Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego under the Government Programme “Fundusz Inicjatyw Obywatelskich NOWEFIO” for 2021–2030 will partly finance a series of theatre classes for children and young people. The classes will support participants’ personal development, strengthen their self-confidence and creative self-expression, and develop their skills in cooperation and building relationships. The result will be an original performance presented at theatre festivals in Kraków, Wrocław and Kielce.

The same funding will fully finance the mentoring and development programme “Youth for the Community”. It includes workshops designed to develop civic, leadership and communication competencies, critical thinking, dialogue and cooperation skills, and the ability to create social initiatives of their own.

We are glad that, thanks to the support of Narodowy Instytut Wolności – Centrum Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego, we can create a space for high-quality education, development and joint activities for young people.

We are launching the project “Youth Creating Dialogue: Theatre and Mentoring for Integration”!

Fundacja Jedność will implement the project from 1 May 2026 to 31 October 2028. Its aim is to develop social and civic competencies and a sense of agency and belonging among young people with migration experience living in Kraków. The project also seeks to increase city residents’ understanding of their situation and openness towards them.

A grant from Narodowy Instytut Wolności – Centrum Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Obywatelskiego will partly finance a series of theatre classes for children and young people. The classes will build self-confidence, creative expression, cooperation and relationship-building skills, while supporting participants’ well-being. Their work together will result in an original performance presented at theatre festivals in Kraków, Wrocław and Kielce.

The grant will also fully finance the mentoring and development programme “Youth for the Community”. The programme will develop civic, leadership and communication competencies, critical thinking, dialogue and cooperation skills, and the ability to prepare social initiatives of their own. Activities will be offered to children and young people aged 9–15, divided into two age groups.

Our first performance has taken place!

On 4 July in Kielce, we presented the first of three planned performances of our original production, created as part of the project “Youth Creating Dialogue: Theatre and Mentoring for Integration”.

This is an important moment for the young people taking part in the theatre activities. Working on the performance supports their personal development, builds self-confidence and helps them develop skills in self-expression, cooperation and building relationships within the group.

We are glad we could present the results of this work at the theatre festival in Kielce. More opportunities to meet our audience are ahead!

The “Youth for the Community” mentoring and development group has begun!

During the sessions, young people develop civic, leadership and communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to engage in dialogue, work together and plan their own social initiatives.

The programme helps young people with migration experience build a sense of agency, responsibility and belonging. Activities are open to children and young people aged 9–15, divided into two age groups.

We held five strategic planning sessions with Natallia Makovik!

This was an important stage for the Fundacja Jedność team. We worked on a long-term development strategy, set priorities for the coming years, and discussed internal processes, team roles, communication, partnerships and how to develop our programmes while maintaining stability and caring for the team.

We paid particular attention to turning ambitious goals into concrete steps: what we will do over the next five years, three years, one year, quarter, month and even week.

We are very grateful for this opportunity and thank Natallia for her thoughtful support, structure and the space to speak openly as a team. For us, these sessions are more than strategic planning: they are an important step in the development of Fundacja Jedność and our ability to support children, young people, women, refugees and migrants in Kraków.

After our successful first premiere in Krakow, our theatre group is keeping up the momentum!

We are preparing for upcoming performances while working on new material. Once again, our space is filled with Shakespeare’s sonnets, laughter, inspiring conversations, voices from the rehearsal room, music, scripts and that special kind of chaos that means one thing: the creative process is truly alive.

The theatre journey continues. And we continue with it.

The “Youth for the Community” mentoring and development programme continues, bringing more sessions and new experiences.

Participants are learning to express and explain their own views, listen to others and engage in dialogue despite differences of opinion. They practise critical thinking, making arguments, public speaking and working together in a group. They also explore what it means to contribute to a community and how to turn an idea of their own into a small social initiative.

Step by step, we are building more than knowledge. Above all, we are developing a sense of agency, responsibility and the courage to speak up and act together.

We are preparing a new version of “Shakespeare. Sonnets Experiments”!

Our theatre group continues its intensive work on the performance, which will be presented at a theatre festival on Saturday, 21 November 2026.

We held four theatre training sessions in August and plan four more in September. These sessions focus on movement, stage presence and awareness, helping the actors become more open, expressive and ready to respond to what happens on stage.

We are revisiting earlier material, refining scenes we have already created, working on new sections and deepening the performance’s theatrical language.

So in November, you will see more than a repeat performance: you will see a new, expanded and strengthened version of “Shakespeare. Sonnets Experiments”.

We will share more information about the theatre festival soon — keep an eye on our updates!
